Saltibus: The Village Where the River Is Still the Center of Life
Saltibus is a small farming community tucked into the rainforest of southwestern Saint Lucia. No resorts. No tour buses. Just the river, the people, and a way of life that hasn’t changed for generations.
You’ll see where people still wash clothes in the water. Where children learn to swim. Where the river isn’t a tourist attraction—it’s just life.
This is the first in a series of videos about community tourism in Saint Lucia. If you want to see the island beyond the postcards, subscribe and follow along.
What does community tourism mean to you?
For us, it means visiting places like Saltibus—where the river is still used for washing and bathing, where farming families have lived on the same land for generations, and where visitors are welcomed as guests, not customers.
